Deep Fried Film – the only international film festival in Coatbridge – gets underway this Saturday 10 August and continues until  17 August. It kicks off with children’s films on the Saturday afternoon and ends with an awards ceremony followed by a big party and a chance to mingle with the film makers. There will also be  some stand up comedy, music and art. The amount raised for charity – the festival is a non profit event run entirely by volunteers – will also be announced.  This year, Cancer Research, Hepatitis Scotland and Spirit Aid are the chosen charities.

Deep Fried’s Eilidh Manson says, ‘The big thing we want is for people to come and see the films! It’s cheaper than a night at the cinema, you get a fabulous selection of films you have never seen before, you can meet film makers and our popcorn is awesome!!!

The Deep Fried Film Festival is a fantastic local event with a worldwide audience – you can check out the complete schedule here. Parking is free and the venue is easily accessible by local transport.
