A passion for fell walking and an appreciation of the work of Harry Beck, designer of the iconic London Tube map, inspired London based geographer Peter Burgess to devise this fantastic new map of the Lake District. According to Peter, ‘while there are bigger mountains and wider open spaces…the Lake District is still the most gorgeous place on earth’.  Peter is the founder of the Online Fellwalking Club as well as a founder member of The Wainwright Society and it is Alfred Wainwright’s 214 peaks which are mapped here. The map is A2 size and costs £8.99 (or see AS free giveaway for 10 readers below!). It is available from Peter’s website, in the world famous map store Stanfords in London, The National Trust Shop in Grasmere and various outlets in the Lake District. The map is printed in Cumbria and £1 from each sale is donated to the Fix the Fells campaign. Peter is delighted with the success of the map – the entire print run has sold out several times over – and he now has the Scottish Munros in his sights for his next project. His maps makes fell walking look blissfully straightforward: take stout boots but leave your Oyster Card at home.
