Lots of people are raving about this, a brand new film directed by Andrew Haigh from a David Constantine short story. 45 years tells the story of Kate (Charlotte Rampling) who is planning a party to celebrate her 45th wedding anniversary. One week before the celebration, however, a letter arrives for her husband, Geoff (Tom Courtenay), that reawakens troubling and long-hidden memories. Kate becomes increasingly concerned by Geoff’s preoccupation with

But what about the cover? The angst of a debut novelist

by Catherine Simpson When I told friends that my debut novel, Truestory, was going to be published one of the most common reactions was: ‘But what about the cover?’ I admit it had been on my mind too. However, I’m a writer, not a jacket designer, so the cover wasn’t up to me. This was a good job because I wouldn’t have had a clue how to create a decent

Thieves of Dunfermline CD – songs in the key of Fife

This very pretty original song, Ladylike Ways, was written for the play Thieves of Dunfermline which was performed over five nights in December 2014 in Abbot House, Dunfermline. Thieves told stories of Dunfermline’s long history and this was the play’s tribute to the women who worked as miners in Fife. The track, which features well known Fife musician Sandie Forbes on vocals and violin with Jonathan Cairney on guitar, was
