If the fairy or star at the top of your Christmas tree is starting to look a little battle scarred maybe it’s time to invest in a beautiful Halinka creation. Originally based on characters from the ballet, the range has expanded to include Christmas and woodland themes as well as, my favoutite, skating couples from around the world. The figures are not cheap, staring at around £20 and rising to £70 but they are intended to be used as decorative elements in your home not playing purposes so they should last a lifetime.

All of Halinka’s fairies are constructed using wire armature wrapped with yarn. They are clothed with carefully chosen fabrics, such as silks, lace and vintage evening dresses. Halinka embellishes the figures with hand-stitched beads, sequins and seed pearls. Each figure is then completed with a wonderfully expressive face. According to her website, Halinka lives with her family in her ‘self designed quirky and wonderful Brighton terraced home. A glittered staircase descends to her fairy workshop – the walls dance with sparkles, shimmery snippets, family heirlooms and vintage finds.’ I have no idea if this is true but it sounds awesome!

The full range is available here or by phone from Halinka on 01273 727642.
