Legendary ballet choreographer Matthew Bourne has adapted Powell and Pressburger Academy award-winning movie, The Red Shoes.  The film, which starred Dunfermline’s own Moira Shearer, is a tale of obsession, possession and one girl’s dream to be the greatest dancer in the world. It not only inspired generations of dancers but is the film Michael Scorcese says ‘plays in his heart’ and was the motivation for him to become a film maker.

Bourne’s magical adaptation stars Ashley Shaw (above) and is set to a new score arranged using the music of golden-age Hollywood composer Bernard Herrman. The Sadler’s Wells run is already sold out but the show comes to Edinburgh in May and Glasgow in June. You can book tickets here.
