Fans of J.K. Rowling and all things wizardry are urged to get along to a special screen adaptation of the Harry Potter author’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them novel presented by Fife Cultural Trust at The Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline this month.

Rowling’s fantasy adventure stars Eddie Redmayne as eccentric wizard Newt Scamander and has been carefully adapted for the big screen – with special showings at the Carnegie Hall which will run until Thursday 1 December.  The film is directed by David Yates, who also directed four of the Harry Potter films, and stars Ezra Miller and Colin Farrell. Set in New York in 1926, Redmayne plays Scamander, who is not only a wizard but an author and Ministry of Magic employee who is headed for the Magical Congress of the United States of American – with a special suitcase packed full of dangerous beasts.

It’s the first in a series of festive films to be launched as part of Carnegie Hall’s Christmas programme, for which Fife Cultural Trust has teamed up with Film Mobile Scotland to bring the best in digital projection to the people of Fife.

Programming Manager Evan Henderson said: ‘By screening two of the biggest films of the winter, we are offering a town centre film centre film service we haven’t seen on a regular basis in Dunfermline for many years since the demise of the much-loved Robin’s Cinema.

‘If you haven’t been to Carnegie Hall recently, or at all, come and take another look. Although built as a concert hall in 1937, its Art Deco interior is reminiscent of the traditional cinemas of the 1930s and, as such, is a unique treasure in Dunfermline’s cultural offering and a hugely atmospheric place to see the fabulous titles we have lined up.”

Tickets are priced £6.50/£7.50 and those who are keen to make a night of it on 2 or 3 December are encouraged to pop into Carnegie Hall’s Tiffany’s restaurant for a Fantastic Beasts Buffet, which includes entry to the film, for £19.95 per person and booking fee.
