Bloomsbury on the Hudson

If you didn’t know already that Scots born singer Angela McCluskey was a colourful character, a peek inside the jewel bright home she shares with film composer husband Paul Cantelon would soon tell you. The couple live in a riot of Bloomsbury-esque colour in this lovely New York loft overlooking the Hudson which very much reflects their vibrant and creative personalities. Tales from allotment 65 – on bird scaring and books

by Nicki Slater, The Imagination Workshop *** It’s been an amazing month and I am astounded by how things have changed after a sunny spell. Everything looks so much happier for some warm sun, rain and my organic liquid feeding: all leaves are now a healthy green and everything is flowering. Days Out with Avocado Sweet

Now that day trips are reinvented as daycations perhaps our fondest memories will be different.  No more being travel sick in the back of a seventies car or picnics in a layby at the side of the dual carriageway, no trying to imagine a view without the sheet of rain in front of it or travelling home in silence because the whole family has fallen out. Perhaps the current generation

Scottish Gin – now there's a neat idea

by Shane Dunning, Woodwinters England has long had a great reputation for the production and consumption of Gin, or Genever; the original Dutch name given to the curative spirit first designed by Franz de la Boe. William of Orange drastically reduced the level of taxation on the importation of Genever into England and the drink very quickly became London’s favourite; drunk neat it was, for while, cheaper than beer.
